Portsmouth’s academy is officially called Pompey Academy and serves to identify and develop the best young talent in the region in the hope they can be promoted to the first-team squad.
Portsmouth achieved academy status at the commencement of the 2007/08 season and have gone on to have success in the Football League Youth Alliance South-East Conference and produce some tremendous talent.

History of Pompey Academy
In their inaugural year as an academy team, Pompey Academy secured an impressive fourth-placed finish in the Premier League Academy Group A, defeating some well-established opponents in the process.
The 2012/13 campaign brought success for Pompey Academy as they clinched the Football League Youth Alliance South-East Conference title. In recent seasons, the academy has witnessed unprecedented success, consistently competing at the upper echelons of their current league, the Football League Youth Alliance South-West Division.
Notably, they have reached the quarter-final stage of the FA Youth Alliance Cup, marking their furthest advancement to date. Graduates have also made notable EFL appearances in a resurgence after a few lean years. Harry Jewitt-White is a prime example having made an impact off the bench against Peterborough United in January 2023.
Over the years, the Fratton Park outfit has seen numerous academy talents excel in the professional football landscape. Some have played for the club’s first-team, while others have achieved acclaim beyond their footballing education with Pompey.
The academy currently operates at the category three level and participates in the Football League Youth Alliance South-West Division and the FA Youth Cup.
