First-Team Squad

Portsmouth’s first-team squad for the 2023/24 season has 35 players at manager John Mousinho’s disposal at Fratton Park.

The Pompey team consists of four goalkeepers, 12 defenders, 10 midfielders and nine forwards. Portsmouth have also sent a number of players out on loan this season.

Portsmouth goalkeepers

Will Norris

Will Norris signed for Portsmouth from Burnley in the summer of 2023 on a free transfer. The Watford native is the undisputed Pompey No1 for the current season.

Matt Macey

Matt Macey signed permanently with Portsmouth in January 2024 following an initial loan spell from Luton Town. The stopper is an Arsenal academy graduate and is currently back-up to Will Norris at Pompey.

Ryan Schofield

Ryan Schofield began his professional career with Huddersfield Town and was sent out on loan for a number of seasons at a plethora of different clubs. He then found a permanent home away from Huddersfield with Portsmouth after signing a one-year deal.

Toby Steward (on loan to Gosport Borough)

Toby Steward was a member of Pompey Academy from joining the U10 team to graduation in February 2022. He signed his first professional Pompey contract on his 17th birthday.

Portsmouth defenders

Zak Swanson

Zak Swanson left Arsenal for Portsmouth in the summer of 2022 for an undisclosed transfer fee. He signed a two-year deal and has the option to extend for a further year.

Ryley Towler

Ryley Towler was recruited from Bristol City in January 2023 for an undisclosed transfer fee. The defender scored twice in one game against Bolton Wanderers just a month after joining Portsmouth.

Regan Poole

Regan Poole is one of Portsmouth’s main centre-backs for the 2023/24 season. He joined Pompey in the summer of 2023 having spent two years at Lincoln City. Poole signed for Manchester United in 2015 for an initial fee of £100k but left four years later.

Connor Ogilvie

Connor Ogilvie has been a Pompey player since the summer of August 2021 when he made a move from Gillingham. The former England U17 international graduated from the Tottenham Hotspur academy in 2014.

Joe Rafferty

Joe Rafferty has been a regular for Portsmouth since making the switch from Preston in the summer of 2022. Previously, the Irishman played more than 250 games for Rochdale having signed from Liverpool.

Conor Shaughnessy

Conor Shaughnessy was a summer 2023 addition from Burton Albion. He has been capped at U21 for the Republic of Ireland national team and has been amongst the goals for Pompey this season as a defender.

Sean Raggett

Sean Raggett has now been with Portsmouth for almost four years having signed during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in August 2020. He’s played well over 200 games for Pompey thus a fantastic servant to the Fratton Park club.

Jack Sparkes

Jack Sparkes made the move across the south coast from Exeter to Portsmouth in the summer of 2023. The left-back has been a regular under John Mousinho in EFL League One and has racked up a number of assists this season.

Josh Dockerill

Josh Dockerill is a young defender who graduated from the Pompey Academy and signed professional contract terms with the club at the end of the 2022/23 season. He recently completed a loan stint at Bognor Regis Town.

Tom McIntyre

Tom McIntyre is a Scotsman who only joined Portsmouth from Reading at the end of the January 2024 transfer window. He signed for an undisclosed fee and put pen to paper on a two-and-a-half year deal.

Liam Vincent (on loan to Chelmsford City)

Liam Vincent is a promising Portsmouth left-back who was recruited from Bromley for an undisclosed fee in 2021. Vincent has mainly spent his time with Pompey out on loan is currently gaining experience with Chelmsford City.

Haji Mnoga (on loan to Aldershot Town)

Haji Mnoga is a Tanzanian internationalist who worked his way through the Pompey Academy before signing his first professional deal in December 2019. He is one of the youngest players to ever play for Portsmouth and is currently on loan to Aldershot.

Portsmouth midfielders

Marlon Pack

Marlon Pack is a local lad and the current captain of Portsmouth. He graduated from the academy in 2009 but left Pompey to pursue his career elsewhere. The experienced Pack returned to his hometown club in 2022 and the midfielder wears the No7 jersey.

Alex Robertson (on loan from Manchester City)

Alex Robertson is an exciting young midfielder who was named in The Guardian’s 2020 ‘Next Generation’ list. He is an Australian international and is gaining experience with Pompey on loan from Manchester City.

Ben Stevenson

Ben Stevenson made a name for himself at Coventry City as a youngster before spells with Wolves and Colchester United. He was signed by Portsmouth from Forest Green Rovers in the summer of 2023 but hasn’t featured very often this season.

Joe Morrell

Joe Morrell is easily one of the best players at Portsmouth and is currently serving as vice-captain to Marlon Pack. The midfielder has shone for Pompey since 2021 and is a full Wales international with well over 30 caps.

Owen Moxon

Owen Moxon is a new addition to the Pompey first-team squad having signed from Carlisle United on January transfer deadline day. He signed a three-and-a-half year contract at Fratton Park.

Terry Devlin

Terry Devlin hails from County Tyrone in Northern Ireland and was snapped up by Portsmouth in the summer of 2023 from Glentoran. The youngster is a Northern Ireland U21 international.

Tom Lowery

Tom Lowery’s tenure at Portsmouth has been unfortunately ravaged with injury problems after signing in the summer of 2023. However, he returned to first-team action in January 2024 after a torn meniscus in his knee.

Tino Anjorin (on loan from Chelsea)

Tino Anjorin is currently on loan to Portsmouth from Premier League giants Chelsea until the end of the current season. He hails from nearby Poole and is a former England U20 international.

Myles Peart-Harris (on loan from Brentford)

Myles Peart-Harris is one of the newest recruits to the Portsmouth squad. The midfielder signed on loan from Premier League side Brentford and scored his first Pompey goal against Cambridge United in February 2024.

Harry Jewitt-White (on loan to Havant & Waterlooville)

Harry Jewitt-White is one of the youngest players to ever play for Portsmouth after making his debut in an EFL Trophy tie in November 2020. The Wales U19 international is a Pompey Academy graduate and is currently out on loan.

Portsmouth forwards

Colby Bishop

Colby Bishop is Portsmouth’s current No9 and has been easily one of the most prolific strikers in EFL League One over the last couple of years. His goals this season have helped Portsmouth stay right in the hunt for automatic promotion.

Anthony Scully

Anthony Scully signed for Pompey at the start of the 2023/24 campaign but his current season has been a difficult one due to injury troubles. The Irishman was a standout star for Lincoln City between 2020 and 2022.

Gavin Whyte

Gavin Whyte is an experienced Northern Ireland international forward and played alongside Pompey boss John Mousinho whilst at Oxford United. The gaffer signed him from Cardiff in the summer of 2023.

Christian Saydee

Christian Saydee came through the ranks at nearby AFC Bournemouth before spending a number of spells out on loan to gain experience. Portsmouth signed him to bolster their attacking ranks in the summer of 2023.

Kusini Yengi

Kusini Yengi made an instant impact for Portsmouth after signing in the summer of 2023. He scored on his debut against Bristol Rovers and fired in a brace a few days later in the EFL Cup against Forest Green Rovers.

Abu Kamara (on loan from Norwich City)

Abu Kamara is a versatile striker who is currently on loan to Portsmouth from Norwich City after a deal was struck in the summer of 2023. The Londoner has been a key contributor of league goals this season for Pompey.

Josh Martin

Josh Martin is a Norwich City academy graduate who moved to Portsmouth in November 2023 on a short-term contract. He was released by the Canaries at the start of the campaign and John Mousinho decided to take a chance on the winger mid-season.

Paddy Lane

Paddy Lane is a Northern Irish international winger who is most renowned for his fantastic 2021/22 season with Fleetwood Town. He was EFL League One’s Young Player of the Year and midway through the following season earned a switch to Pompey.

Callum Lang

Callum Lang was signed by John Mousinho in the January 2024 transfer window for Portsmouth from Wigan Athletic. The 25-year-old scored 27 league goals in 124 games for the Latics.
