John Mousinho has ruled out ‘brilliant’ Portsmouth ace ahead of Wycombe Wanderers clash

John Mousinho has confirmed that one of his key men won’t be involved against Wycombe Wanderers on Friday.

Pompey head to Adams Park with a nine-point cushion in the automatic promotion places after their victory over Peterborough United on 16 March.

Mousinho has revealed that Tino Anjorin will return to the fold after spending nearly four months on the sidelines with a hamstring issue.

However, the 37-year-old has revealed that Callum Lang won’t feature in the Good Friday fixture.

What’s the latest on Portsmouth attacker Callum Lang?

Lang has hit the ground running since completing his January move from Wigan Athletic. The 25-year-old has netted four times in just eight appearances.

After his memorable debut in the 2-2 draw with Oxford United, Mousinho was thrilled with his new addition.

“He looked energetic, he looked lively, he looked like he was going to make things happen, I know that is a bit of a broad stroke, but that is why we brought him to the club,” he told The Portsmouth News.

“A brilliant finish. He manoeuvred a bit of space for himself in the box and it was a really good finish across the goalkeeper.”

However, the versatile forward hasn’t featured since the Blues’ 0-0 draw with Blackpool and Mousinho has now confirmed he won’t feature against Wycombe.

“Callum Lang, not quite, he’s progressing really well,” he told BBC Sport’s Andrew Moon.

However, the Pompey boss believes his January signing’s likely return date is next week’s fixture against Shrewsbury.

“But we are looking at possibly the Shrewsbury game, but if not, we will try and get him back for the Bolton game,” he added.
