One of Bolton Wanderers’ star men has sent a “very confident” message ahead of the visit of Portsmouth on Saturday.
John Mousinho’s side can wrap up promotion and the League One title with a win at the Toughsheet Stadium.
Derby County’s 0-0 draw with Wycombe Wanderers has also added another layer of intrigue. Ian Evatt’s men now have their automatic promotion hopes firmly in their own hands. Four wins will see the hosts playing Championship football next season.
Wanderers have the second-best home record in League One behind the Blues, and one of their star men has sent a defiant message ahead of Saturday’s huge clash.
Nathan Baxter sends confident Bolton Wanderers message ahead of Portsmouth clash

Nathan Baxter has been an important player for Evatt this season. The 25-year-old’s absence from the side saw Bolton’s form drop.
The former Hull City man will start in goal against the Blues and is in a confident mood.
“We honestly have the belief that we can beat anyone,” he told The Bolton News.
“We are very confident, and I believe we have got a great team. I know that Portsmouth have obviously accrued more points than us this season but ultimately, we’ll be going out there knowing we have to win. We will be giving everything we possibly can.”
Can Portsmouth seal promotion on Saturday against Bolton Wanderers?
It feels as if Pompey have been written off unfairly this season. Peterborough United were fancied before Mousinho’s side ran out 1-0 winners at London Road.
It was a similar story when Bolton made the trip to Fratton Park earlier in the season. Portsmouth’s record against the current top six is superb, and, at the moment, there’s no reason to doubt the Blues on Saturday.
Of course, questions remain over whether they can get the job done, with a draw certainly not out of the question. For now, the pressure is on the hosts to secure a massive three points in their bid to break into the top two.
