Pompey boss ‘satisfied’ with squad but won’t rule out further moves

Portsmouth manager, John Mousinho, has confirmed that he is happy with his squad but couldn’t rule out any further signings on deadline day.

Pompey have made 14 new signings so far this window and with Tino Anjorin joining, it appears that could be it.

With seven free transfers and three in on loan, it has been a busy, yet clever window from Mousinho and co.

With star signing Kusini Yengi getting injured at the start of the season, some fans thought another striker option could come in.

That doesn’t appear to be the case right now.

What has John Mousinho said?

With 14 new signings, there is plenty of players that have got to gel together this season and more signings may disrupt that.

As it stands, the Pompey manager is happy: “We’re pretty satisfied with where the squad is at the moment from this transfer window and the 14 signings we’ve brought in.”

Although there is no guarantee of new signings, the club will be on their toes.

When discussing deadline day Mousinho said: “We’re going to do it, but we’re not going to be doing it with the computer screens up and really searching for players we desperately need to bring in.”

Despite not being particularly interested in any moves, the manager isn’t naïve to further moves.

“If anything pops up we’re not going to dismiss it out of hand and we’re not going to be in separate parts of the country trying to communicate with each other.”

Mousinho is happy and isn’t interested in a busy Friday night: “But, at the moment, we’re pretty satisfied with where everything is.

“So hopefully it will be a relatively quiet end to the transfer window.”

A positive start to the season so far for Pompey, the squad is only going to get better as they acclimatise to Pompey Island.
