Portsmouth are set to let their latest crop of academy talent know whether they have Fratton Park futures.
According to the Portsmouth News, 16-year-old Koby Mottoh has been handed a chance by the club. The youngster has been given two weeks to win a professional deal.
Mottoh is believed to have started training with the first team on Tuesday morning as the club assesses whether there is a pathway for him.

The under-18 winger has caught the eye over the last couple of years, and here’s everything you need to know about him.
Who is Koby Mottoh?
Mottoh is a 16-year-old winger who can also operate as a wing-back. The youngster was previously on Arsenal’s books.
Mottoh hasn’t featured for Portsmouth in a League fixture to date but has been given opportunities by John Mousinho during the 2023/24 season.
He started in the Blues’ EFL cup clash against Peterborough United, featuring for 66 minutes before being replaced.
Furthermore, Mottoh played the full 90 minutes of Pompey’s 5-2 EFL trophy defeat to AFC Wimbledon on December 19.
The 16-year-old has featured once on the bench in the league, coming in Pompey’s 2-2 with Port Vale last season.
What are Kob Mottoh’s strongest attributes?
According to Pompey’s official website, the youngster’s dribbling ability is a standout attribute. He thrives in one-on-one situations and made some really positive goal contributions during his early days in the academy.
In his first season, Mottoh scored 15 goals in 18 appearances for the under-18s in the 2022/23 season.

Academy assistant boss Sam Hudson told The Portsmouth News: “Koby has a knack of being in the right place at the right time. I’m sure he will remind me later that he’s still top scorer! He spends a lot of time working on performing in and out of possession and also improving his left foot to make sure he can attack both ways.”
Having predominantly been a winger at Arsenal, Mottoh has excelled in a wing-back role.
Can Koby Mottoh make Portsmouth impression over the next fortnight?
Considering the lack of talent coming through Portsmouth’s academy, there will be some hope that Mottoh’s two-week trial with the first team will succeed.
Despite the excellent work behind the scenes at Fratton Park, the academy’s state remains a concern. Considering the catchment area, there are nowhere near enough players making an impact on the first team, and those that have come through have been quickly sold: Connor Chaplin, Marlon Pack, and Joel Ward, to name a few.
There’s an opportunity for Mottoh to be one of a handful of academy players and finally break into first-team proceedings.
