Pompey boss full of praise for ‘brilliant’ attacker after Barnsley goal

Portsmouth manager, John Mousinho has praised Paddy Lane for his recent performances, after coming in for Anthony Scully.

Signed in January, it has taken time for the Northern Irish man to settle in, but it appears that he has finally found his feet.

Signed from Fleetwood Town where he scored eight in 63 games, at 22-years old he has plenty of potential.

He scored his first goal of the season against Barnsley in the week. Following this he has been spoken up by the manager and fans alike.

With Scully missing, Lane is stepping up to great effect.

What has John Mousinho said about Paddy Lane?

The Pompey manager was clearly pleased: “Paddy was brilliant at Barnsley, a constant threat down that right-hand side, he ran in behind, he got his goal, and maybe could have added another.”

Despite that being just his second goal for the club, Mousinho was happy with the winger.

On Lane’s form, he said: “He was really, really good towards the back end of last season.

“He didn’t manage to get, apart from the final game against Wycombe, was that attacking and goal-scoring threat.”

The winger was one of the earlier signings under Mousinho, who has faith in him.

Discussing his transfer, the boss said: “I had no doubts when we signed Paddy that he’s going to have a terrific Pompey career, so these sort of performances aren’t a surprise to me.

“He’ll only get better with the games and fitter with the games.”

Hopefully, with his form getting better he will continue and get on the goal-scoring track more often.
